Who We Are
Explorer Post 549 is a career education program operated through Scouting America that introduces young adults ages 14 to 18 to the field of emergency medical services.
Our program allows Explorers to learn about EMS through hands-on training, teamwork, ride-along opportunities, and real-world experiences alongside EMS providers. Training topics include patient care, medical equipment, emergency response, leadership, and communication skills.
Drills are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 7 pm to 9 pm at PenWeb Headquarters, Penfield Webster Emergency Medical Services, located at 1585 Jackson Road.
Once an Explorer turns 16 and completes the required training, they may have the opportunity to ride along on an ambulance with an approved advisor.
If you are interested in joining, we encourage you to stop by during a drill night to meet our members, see what we do, and ask questions about the program.
For more information, contact our Head Advisor, Bohdan Bersteniuk, at bersteniuk@penwebems.org.
